The Red Sox took over first place in the GPMABL Penn Division by sweeping the A's in today's doubleheader at Hartford Crossing field in Medford, New Jersey.
Eric Guise earned his fourth win on the season with a complete game shutout, and the Sox scrapped their way to four runs on offense to take the front end of the doubleheader.
The Red Sox won the back end of the doubleheader in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the 7th inning. Steve McDermet led off with a walk, promptly stole second and then moved to third on a groundout. With one out, Craig Denlinger was intentionally walked to setup a double play. This brought to the plate one of the team's hottest players, cleanup hitter Jason Williams. J-Dubbs smashed a 1-0 offering over the centerfielder's head to score both baserunners for the win.
The league takes next weekend off for the Memorial Day Weekend. See you on June 6th at 10am as the 8-2 Red Sox take on the winless Aston Outlaws for the first time this season. The Red Sox play host at
Latshaw McCarthy.
