Don't Call It a Comeback

Once again the Red Sox needed a comeback to defeat the Colt 45's. This time, it was the second round of the playoffs.

The Red Sox earned a first round bye, and took on the Colt 45's who defeated the Comets earlier in the day. Today's game was the first in a best-of-three series.

After a rough 2nd and 3rd inning, the Red Sox found themselves down 4-0. After chipping away at the lead, the Sox eventually tied the game. In the bottom of the 7th, Jason Williams led off the inning with a single. Bill Johnson put down a sacrifice bunt to advance Williams to 2nd, but an errant throw allowed Johnson to advance to 2nd, and Williams to 3rd. Steve McDermet was intentionally walked to load the bases and set up a force play. Will Caton stepped up, and worked a long count. With 2 strikes, he lined a base hit up the middle to seal the come from behind 5-4 victory.

Final stats from the season and today's game have been uploaded.

The Red Sox return to Richie Asburn field for game 2 against the Colt 45's next Sunday. Game 3 will follow (if necessary).
